KFC - Perpetrator #1

Today I received my first complaint.

I must say this has to be the one of the oldest and common-est complaints out there i.e. the food you order doesnt look remotely-remotely close like the one in the advert.

Well the perpetrator today is none other than KFC, good ol' Kernel Sanders himself in all his white-bearded glory..

If memory serves me correctly (which is rare), KFC's been trying to diversify it's menu i.e. Alaskan Fish Burger (which i was told sucked big-time and i think tanked?) .The latest addition which is currently being promoted is it's Shrimp Stix which retails for RM5.15 per box. Please do note the illustration on the right, the SS are bigger and longer (*ahem*) compared to the Chicken Drumsticks

Of course, the victim missed out on the disclaimer-fineprint (font 0.15) which states CLEARLY "Servings featured are for illustration purposes only"

The real deal however and rather obviously is shown on the right.

It's probably about 30% of the size of the chicken and is puny.
Maybe if someone stroked it abit it might grow bigger like Aladdin's lamp although I sincerely doubt it =)

Analytically speaking, I suppose considering the amount of money that goes into the A & P (Advertising and Promotion) of the product, the only other way they can scrimp on the Shrimp and try to ensure that the product is cost effective is to cut corners when it comes to the product itself.

Its quite the trend these days i.e. Nike spending millions on super-star endorsements, but cutting costs and lowering the quality of their products.

So anyhow folks, up-shot of today is if Kernel Sanders tells you little boys and girls out there that his Shrimp Stix are big, don't believe him - run far far away!!

In The Beginning, there was Darkness

Dear Friends,I would like to bid everyone a warm welcome to my inaugural post @ CrusadeAgainsttheCon.

This blog is dedicated to everyone who has ever been ripped off while purchasing anything from anywhere, be it a dodgy fish from the wettest fishmarket, or a piece of codfish from the swankiest supermarket.

The main (but not sole) aim of this blog is to weed out the weevils who con the general public of their hard earned money. As the URL suggests, this blog crusades against these con-men. Who are these con-men you may ask at this point?Well these conmen comprise of traders/manufacturers who promise you that the item you are buying will perform its function up to a certain level.

So if you have ever been conned by the DVD seller promising that the DVD is "clear", or an insurance saleswoman who promised u coverage - but oh clearly omitted to tell you that certain things are exempted, or purchased goods online that never arrived/are faulty, or the fishmonger who told you the fish is fresh, or the Sony laptop u bought that promised 3-4 hours of battery life but only gave you a measly 1.5 hours, this is the blog for you.

I urge you to be detailed in your analysis, do attach maps of location of the con, the promises these pickpockets make and descriptions of the faults of the items etc.

So my fellow consumers, do join in my Crusade againts the Con, my Fight against the Fraud, my Movement against the Marauders, my Battle against the B@stards, my Riot against the Robbers. May every Trader/Thief Take heed and Think Twice.
